PEOPLE WHO ARE VIOLENT TO ANIMALS RARELY STOP THERE!

Are you sure it's not November?

OMG, can you say friggin' cold and it's only the first week of October. It sure felt like November yesterday as we spent all day outside on the farm and gathered at 1 pm around a bonfire at the DSC Memorial Hill to celebrate the life and remember those animals that touched out lives. It was a very meaningful and touching ceremony and despite the lousy weather, there were people gathering and coming out just for that purpose. I dedicated my remembrance card to  Mrs Jenners, who I had a good cry over just the day before. Poor Mrs Jenners, I have never seen such a tragic ending to one of the most loving donkeys we ever had at the DSC. Mrs Jenners was just a people loving donkey, always seeking out visitors, staff and volunteers. Could never get enough attention and was just the sweetest creature. She was here one day and gone the next, she was still physical here, but her eyes were empty, without life or any expression, she was just an empty shell. Mrs Jenners went from notching people one day, to not knowing what to do with a carrot, how to eat or what to do other than wandering in the same path over and over again. It was so sad to watch, she wouldn't stop for anything or anybody, when she stood still for a minute, she was just gone. It was determined that Mrs Jenners brain had swollen up and she was euthanized  after extensive tests showed nothing conclusive and medication to get the swelling down had failed, in the end we will have to wait for the necropsy results to determine the cause, but a tumor was the most likely cause......poor  Mrs Jenners. One of the sweetest donkey girls.

Sorry about Mrs. Jenners. Sweet Face!

Has been warm here, but most likely, not for long.
