Ahhhhhhhhhh gotta love surprises

Nothing gets my blood pressure zooming up like totally unexpected surprises or situations thrown at me, but I must say to my astonishment I do extremely well in these situations and master them quite gracefully. Well today at work my PIC and I got an unexpected surprise and we coped quite well and everything went over without a hitch and it just made the day go by so much quicker. Like every year we do have special trips and visits planned with our Preschoolers, this year was no exception, well except the parents, so after long planning and the disinterest of most of the parents to bring their children in on an extra day, we decided to just scratch those special dates from our calendar. This decision was made by us while our supervisor was on vacation, so upon her return we informed her of our decision and asked her to take the appropriate steps to cancel these special dates. Even last week I double checked with her to make sure she did it and according to her, it was done. Somehow I kind of had the feeling she might have forgotten to do so, because she just had so much other stuff on her mind. So today rolls along, we play with the kids, 10 am passes( which was the time for the Firedepartment to come for their visit) and we think we are in the clear, never mentioned anything to the kids and just went along with our daily activities, then the phone rings, it's the Fire department, informing us that the truck is on it's way and they are just running a little late. OH WHAT A SURPRISE. We only had a few minutes to prepare ourselves and the children for the special visit from some firefighters. Boy we are so good, in minutes we had the kids wipped into shape about Firesafety and 911 and all the things they should have known before the visit. Of course the kids were excited, and loved seeing the firetruck and learning the Stop-drop and roll rule. Everybody got a turn to sit in the Firetruck and the four firemen were just really good with the kids. So all in all the visit went great and was a good surprise for all of us.
