I made it....

...safely back home that is. Yesterday was a strange day weather wise, it was pouring rain in the morning, sunny and windy one minute and stormy looking the next, it was a constant mix up and the office kept a close eye on the development of the weather as they actually called for tornadoes in that area. Tornado watch was on all day and we made it through Open Day without a problem, it was a tiring day and I was glad when I finally could sit down for a minute, we planted ourselves in the office, had dinner at the pond and were then set for  the first of  two evening course of First Aid. Oh how I hate taking First Aid, but I thought I rather do it there and with my other employer. Throughout the evening the donkeys were really acting up and running across the fields like crazy, even the fatties have been seen galloping up and down their paddock, and the fatties usually don't run. So it was weird. By eight o'clock thunder and lightning had moved in but no rain yet, by the time we were finished at nine it was pouring like crazy and in the short walk from the office to my car (40m) I was soaked through and through. Driving up the lane way was difficult because the wipers didn't go fast enough to make the windows clear, thank God for the continuous lighting strikes one after the other so one could actually see where one was going. So driving was difficult and slow to say the least, thankfully I have driven there so many time, that I probably could do it in my sleep. Then the wind started to pick up like crazy, I felt like I was steering an airplane that had run into high turbulence and was shaking all over, it was actually pretty scary, but driving was still ok and with the lightning manageable, then all of a sudden there was a tree down right across the whole street, so I had to turn around and take another route, same thing, I can't remember how many detours I made last night, there were trees down everywhere, trees in wires, trees across the street, tree parts all over the road, at one point I thought if there is one falling down behind me in the meantime from where I came from and then in front of me, I am screwed, but thankfully I made it home safe and sound, and once I hit Cambridge it was only severe lightning and thunder even though the tornado warnings were still in place for that and our area too. I don't think I was ever that happy to be home. :)

OMG Glad you made it home ok, that would have scared me so bad. I don't drive in weather like that anymore, if it looks like it could get nasty, I just say BYE, and leave. I am a chicken when it comes to driving in stuff like that. Well, I am sure glad that you got home safely, it could have been otherwise.
