A new day

This is Oscar today, his hooves have been trimmed the very same day he arrived, and he is recovering nicely. He is still covered in cow manure and of course sore from having to adjust to new feet and a new way of walking. Beside his hooves, he has an enormous fallen crest on his left side, bigger than I have ever seen on any donkey( and we have a few big ones), it is horrific and something that can not ever be set right again. He is very curious and alert and seems to be very friendly, not at all like the people who had him made him out to be. Of course he is in quarantine and therefore inaccessible to us volunteers besides over the fence with hands off. Glad to hear that he is getting ear scratches from staff. Of course we are still  hoping for good results from the x rays but won't really know too much until the beginning of the week, I also heard that he is not very keen on taking his bute, which is a problem. I so hope and pray that he will be around for a long time, he looks like such a good loving boy.

I hope for the best for him. It's so terrible how often donkeys are abused. Thank you for thinking of me after Angel died.

Thanks for the update... what a life he's had up till now. Sorry you're not able to touch him yet, he needs all the hugs and scratches he can get.

Good thoughts for the guy. I would have to stay away, I would not think twice about skritches, even if I wasn't supposed to...
