Gift sponsorships, Thank you letters and lots more at the DSC!

Yesterday was my day at the Donkey Farm to continue on my little project, I needed to take a few pictures, but due to the miserable weather and the donkeys looking all pretty sad and wet, I postponed that part to another better day and an extra chance to drive up there.lol. I talked to Chantal and we got all the donkeys physical and behavioural identifications mapped out and as far as that part, it is all done, I still need to add about 10 pictures to some of the donkeys and then it's full steam ahead with printing it out and finish the donkey part at least, I still have to work on all the mules, but there are only nine of them. I was surprised that I got all of them finished yesterday as I only had a limited time to be on the computer, as there was a meeting going on in the office and I chose to be in the other room and do letters and getting gift sponsorship packages and thank you letters ready to be send out. It is amazing the amount of gift sponsorships that are requested at this time of the year, that is just absolutely wonderful and I know the receivers will be thrilled and happy. I know what it has meant to me to receive a sponsorship as well as what it meant to me to give sponsorship packages.  It is just a wonderful feeling. The donkeys people choose for their sponsorship are as individual and different as the people who choose them and choose them for. Of course there are always the most popular and most sponsored donkeys, like Cargo, Paco, Pansy and Poppy, and Chiclet, but these are the most visible and distinguishable donkeys, the donkeys that you most like will encounter on your visit.  But when people actually come out, stay a while and are lucky enough to be visited by one of the donkeys from the main herd, there is always one that leaves a special hoof print on somebody's heart. That's how I got my first sponsored donkey to be Hershey. We had such a great interaction on my very first visit there, that I couldn't help it but fall in love with this cute, rowdy little donkey boy. The more interaction you have with them the more you love them, and I find it always thrilling that sometimes it's a donkey that comes up to you when you are right in the middle of them, with whom you never had an interaction before, and yes there are still some of them out there, especially the shy ones, like Juanita and Speckle. There are donkeys that seek you out every time they see you, others couldn't care less one day if you are there or not, and other days they are just as friendly and curious as nobody else. There is quite nothing like being surrounded by warm, fuzzy and cute faces, and nothing warms your heart more on a freezing cold miserable rainy day!

Something is wrong with your blog wahoditties (I say that because I don't know what the heck to call them). I saw that you hadn't posted in two days, and came looking, to see what was wrong. Imagine my surprise to find not one, but two posts up that didn't show on my blog list. What's weird is that yours is the only blog that behaves like that. So, anyway, I'm sorry that I haven't visited, but, that's why.

It sounds like you are enjoying your work with the donkeys, as always. What a wonderful idea a gift sponsorship is!

You are such a wonderful donkey advocate! And you are so right about once you get to know a donk, well, it's pure love after that. Life without one or two or.... I could never imagine it.
Hugs.
