Charcoal and Hoover

Well it has finally happened...the two little free loader on the deck have moved into the basement. It was just too hard to look at those two cute little faces every day at the patio door begging to be let in from the cold, without having some pulls at one's heartstrings. So last night we "trapped" them in the cat carrier and carried the into the basement. The first few minutes they were checking out the place and constantly crying for each other, I guess to make sure the other one was still there. But it really didn't take them that long to quiet down and just check everything out like little kittens check things out. To my surprise it was a very quiet night without any cries and/or crashes from things being tipped over. This morning when I checked on the little creatures, they were both cuddled up together in their new bed and just looked at me. I hope being more around us will help them to overcome their shyness and fears of humans. Charcoal is doing quite well, he loves to be petted and even lets you carry him around. Now Hoover is another story, she has fear just written all over her little face. It seems at times she wants so much to be petted and handled, but as soon as you make any movement awards her, she takes off and it takes a while for her to get enough courage up to try again to approach us. I hope with time and patience she will once again learn to trust humans and experience that not all people are inhumane to animals.
