Hodgepodge Wednesday

Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol 78
It's been a while since I participated in the Wednesday Hodgepodge, so I will give it a try this week and hopefully get in the swing of things and with the program.

1) What's something you miss about the 1980?
Well it's probably not so much that I miss it, but I am definitely stuck in the 80s when it comes to music. With the new car came one year free of satelite radio and there is a station that plays 80s music all day long, that's my station right now.....but what I definitely miss and that's when I dig out my old cassette tapes...is the European 80s music., e.g. Modern Talking, Bad Boys Blue, Sandra, Reighera,  etc.

2) Do you  have a library card? If so, how often do you visit?
Yes I do have a library card but in all honesty I can't remember the last time I visited the library, the closet I probably came to it lately was last summer when my daughter was working on a project and she actually wanted to get a book for it from the library instead of getting all the info of the Internet.

3) What's the secret to success?
It all depends how you measure success....I think doing what you love to do is big part of being successful, as is never to stop learning and having a good positive attitude.

4) This is National Backyard Games week....what's your favourite backyard game?
I would have to say Bocce Ball.
"Bocce ball is a game that is played outside on a long narrow court.  The court is generally 50 to 90 feet long and about 7 to 12 feet wide with small walls at the edges to keep the balls on court.  There are two different types of balls used for this backyard game one is a small ball called the jack and the other balls are bocce balls, two different colors to differentiate between teams.  This will give you a bocce ball Set  Bocce ball is played with two opposing teams of one, two or four players on each team.  The idea of the game is to place your teams balls, either by rolling or underarm pitch as close to the jack as possible.  The jack is placed by rolling it along the court by the first team to a pre specified area.  If the first team cannot place the jack with in the goal area then the opposing team is given a chance.  Which ever team successfully places the jack in the specified area gets to roll their bocce balls first.  If neither team can successfully place the jack by rolling it down court then the jack is placed in the specified spot and the first try team to try to place it rolls their bocce ball first.  After the first bowl the teams alternate turns bowling their first set of bocce balls.  Once the first balls are in play the team that does not have a ball closest to the jack takes their turn until all the balls have been rolled or pitched down court.  After all the balls have been played the team with the ball or balls closest to the jack receives the point for that match.  Bocce ball is generally played up to 13 point however depending on the region this can vary, or you can play as long as you like if you are simply enjoying recreational fun.  Bocce ball is an easy to understand and fun way to spend an afternoon or morning outside with competitors or friends.  The set up of the game is simple and the concepts can be understood by children as well as seniors making it a family fun activity or a competitive sport among colleagues."

5) If I dropped by today what would I find on  your coffee table ? Lol....I better clean it up, what wouldn't you find on my coffee table....right now...a cup of lukewarm coffee, some threads and crosstitch, a highlighter and some pieces of paper. I know I know I should really tidy it up.

6) Do you own a bicycle? When was the last time you rode a bicycle? Is that something you enjoy?
Yes, I do have a bike, right now it's still hanging in the garage on the wall, but it's definitely time to get it down and ride it, so I haven't ridden it since last summer, most definitely something I enjoy.

7) What's your favourite cheese?
My favourite cheese has to be one of the most fattening ones...Havarti. But even the low fat version of it is pretty tasty.

8) Insert your own random thought here.
Actually originally I had a happy thought here, but it sure isn't how I feel today....today is one of the days when you are ashamed to be a human being and how absolutely ignorant some people can be and how poor innocent creatures have to pay to price for people's ignorance. Silver lining of this whole horrible ordeal is a chance to educate people and tell his story.....but what a shame and horrible way of spending your life and all because people just didn't care and didn't want to know better.

There was a lot to digest here. I don't know if you were being specific in number 8, bu I agree that the way some people treat animals makes life really painful for those of us who care or who have worked with animal rescues.

It was great to get to know you. And the pictures of the donkeys are adorable.

Havarti is one of my favorites too. I'm really not supposed to eat a lot of cheese but its hard to cut it out completely.

Have a nice weekend!
