"F"

is
for
friends
... and the power of friendship, especially the power of friendship between women.
Every woman deserves to have at least one close friend, one that supports her unconditionally. We all have friends or "so called " friends  throughout our life, I must admit in my school days and early work days most of my friends were males, somehow I found girl friends just too competetive and mean at times. But we all have/had those kind of friends, friends that undermine you, friends who would be unhappy if you changed,  Spending time with someone who is competitive with you or who you simply share a bad habit with might not be a basis for a good friendship. When I think about the friends I have now I am fully aware of the precious gift they are and how much I treasure their presence in my life. Some I might not see all that often, some I see regularly, but we are always in contact more or less and if they are not around it feels like something is missing in my day, but I also know time can go by and the next time we see each other or talk with each other it feels just like yesterday. What do those close friends have that other friends don't have? It's not what they have, but what they don't have and that's an agenda. They listen, they love me and give advice when asked based only on what is best for me not what would make them happiest, they support me and help me grow without judgement and afterthoughts. I am lucky to say I have some very supportive, strong and wise women in my life that I trust with everything and whose guidance I trust, because I know they only have my best interest at heart. I just hope they all know what they mean to me and how much I love them and without them I wouldn't be the person I am today, not because they made me into that person, but because they let me be that person and still love and support me.

People are like stained glass windows.  They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." ~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross~

You are so right about women friends. And I like that your little girl is smiling and being content.

I think people with friends like that - the unconditional kind - are very lucky.

What a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to friendship and especially to those dear friends you speak of so fondly.

Lovely "F" post.

Hello Tina
I'm enjoying your posts for the A-Z challenge. They have been short sharp and to the point and so relevant to your life - a lot of the other entrants could learn a thing or two from you.
Looking forward to the rest of the month
Take care

Isn't it funny how girlfriends become so much more important as we get older? For me, I think it's because we women can of course relate to each others' life circumstances so much better than men. These days I definitely need my girlfriends - they sustain me!
