When I think of....

DUSTY ROSE, the first thought that comes to my mind is, and I am not sure why, but that she should be wearing a flowered dress and a straw hat, that she would be standing over the fence talking to every person that walks by, greets them with a quick hello and how are you. Well that would be my picture of Dusty Rose if she was human, but Dusty Rose was a lovely old donkey lady. When Dusty Rose arrived at the Sanctuary with her then best friend Dolly, Dusty Rose's feet were in poor condition and she spent most of her time lying down, with Dolly watching over her. Our farrier has made amazing progresses on her feet for years by different trimming techniques, but in the end the years of pain in her front feet, and shifting her weight to the back to compensate has made her back and  hind feet very sore. Chris even invented his own kinds of shoes to make her comfortable and it seems to work for a while and ease her pain and she was mobile. Within the last few weeks her pain seemed to have increased again, and with running out of ideas and options, the painful decision was made to end her pain in a human way and send her off with love and care. There was just something about Dusty Rose, that made her a classy donkey, very stoic and gentle. And with the softest silkiest hair. She sure will be missed by so many.

It really was the best for her, I know she will be missed by everyone, it's a nice thought - her in a flowered dress and a straw hat - at least a straw hat with a flowered ribbon.

aww, Dusty Rose made this world a better place, I dearly love donkeys. Was wonderful that y'all had been there for her in her last years.
