Settling in for the night!

Sometimes our neighbourhood is just swarmed with turkey vultures circling the sky above our properties, I just love watching them soar in the thermals  of the air like kites on a string, seem like they are enjoying the soaring. At night time they usually settle in the tall trees in the backyards of the neighbourhood. I am always excited to see them settle in our trees, as some of our neighbours  shoot air guns just to chase them out of "their" trees. Like what harm do they do? I don' get it.
These birds are huge, they have a wingspan of 170 -183 cm,  they have dark brown to black plumage and a featherless purplish red head and neck, therefore resembling a turkey. They usually stay in large groups, right now there have to be at least fifty of them spread out in the trees of our property and two houses down from us.
I just find them totally fascinating.

Oh, Tina, just think about the SIZE of the splotch that just one of those birds would make! I would shoot too! I park under a tree to keep the sun from fading the interior, and I am always cleaning off song bird splotches. EEEEWWWWWWWW!
