For the best

Well as hard as it is, the realization that it is for the best is of some comfort. Knowing that what would have been in his immediate future, it was a relief for him and in the end a peaceful and painless death. He just fell asleep. And that is how I think everybody wishes one would go when one's time comes.
From talking with my family, no one would have thought he was even as sick as he was just by looking at him, and even he himself said, if he wouldn't know what's going on on his back, he would feel absolutely fine. He was weak, but in good spirits and looked well.
And in the end he looked peaceful and relaxed, he was laying on his back, something he hasn't done in a while.
But it is still so hard to believe and to understand.
