Get up and Dance

... was the motto of this year's Year End Recital for my daughter's dance school. She was in three numbers, Jazz, Acro and Hip Hop. Personally I enjoy the Hip Hop the most, and it's amazing to see how much she has grown and learned in this particular dance style. In the beginning she looked too stiff and didn't look like she enjoyed it very much, even though she picked this particular class. But this year, she was grooving and hip hopping like an old pro and you could tell that she was comfortable in her movements and had fun doing it. It was really nice to watch and she did an excellent job. Her Jazz number was also great, she has become so much more comfortable with her dance moves and it shows by its presentation. It's amazing to see how much it has changed from last year. She looks like she is really enjoying it and has fun with it, it's not just going through the motions anymore, it's more like feeling the music. Way to go Pookie!
As for the rest of the show, I was very impressed by the pre Junior Competitive Team, seems to me that they spend a lot of time on grooming them to go somewhere and they seem to do so with many awards won at the different competitions, where they kind of have given up on the older Competitive Dancers, not the seniors, but the medium age groups. Most of their dances were very sloppy and not very interesting to watch. Makes me a little bit mad that they don't put the same effort in all the groups, after all they all pay the same money and do deserve the same treatment by the instructors. I am just glad we are not into the competitive circus anymore and we can enjoy the simple talent of every single dancer.
